#21 Volleyball Wins 3-0 Over #14 Southwestern

SAN ANTONIO – The 21st-ranked Trinity University volleyball team swept 14th-ranked Southwestern 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-22) in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Friday night.

The Tigers take over first place in the SCAC standings with the win, improving to 16-6 overall and 9-1 in the SCAC. The Pirates fell to 18-3 this season and 8-2 in conference play. The win also gives Trinity a regular season split with Southwestern.
Courtney Pope (New Braunfels, Texas / Canyon) and Mackenzie Logan (Calgary, Canada / Bishop Carroll) led the team with nine kills each, while Maddie Fate (New York, N.Y. / Croton Harmon) added eight of her own. Pope hit .444 in the match, while Fate turned in a .467 hitting percentage. Pope also led the team with five blocks, with Fate adding four of her own, and Taylor Starr (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) recording three.

Kendall DeRivel (Westlake Village, Calif. / Viewpoint) finished with a team-leading 22 assists and Jozie Dhayer (Houston, Texas / Summer Creek) picked up 16. DeRivel also led the team with three service aces. Jenna Rodriguez (San Antonio, Texas / Antonian) was the only Tiger to reach double digits in digs, finishing with a match-best 18 digs. DeRivel and Dhayer added six digs each, while Reagan Whatley (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands) and Annabelle Lanik (Sugar Land, Texas / St. John's) finished with seven digs each.

Trinity will play Randolph-Macon College (VA) at Noon tomorrow, then will continue SCAC action against Concordia University (TX) at 4:00 p.m. The Tiger parents will be recognized before the opening match, then the seniors will be honored at the end of the day.
