HOUSTON, Texas – The Trinity women's soccer team won a 1-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road match against the University of St. Thomas on Friday night.
The Tigers improved to 12-1-2 this season and remain a perfect 8-0-0 in conference play. St. Thomas falls to 6-6-2 overall and 2-5-0 in the SCAC. Trinity clinched a spot in the SCAC Tournament with tonight's win, which was secured with a goal in the second half.
Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg) broke the scoreless tie with a long-range goal in the 57th minute of play.
Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) provided the assist, which was her team-best 13th assist this year. Werner now has five goals and two game-winners in 2024.
Lauryn Lewis (Carrollton, Texas / Creekview) faced just one shot in the game, recording a save to secure her 10th shutout of the year. Tonight was also the 13th overall shutout for the Tiger team in 15 games played.
Trinity will return home next weekend for a pair of SCAC games against the University of the Ozarks (AR) and Centenary College (LA). The Ozarks matchup is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 1, and the Centenary contest is at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3.
