SAN ANTONIO - The Trinity women's soccer team celebrated senior night with a 5-0 win over the University of Ozarks at home this evening. On a night where they honored the contributions of five seniors, the Tigers secured the SCAC regular season championships and the #1 seed in next weekend's conference tournament.
The Tigers (13-1-2) extended their perfect record in SCAC play to 9-0 in their penultimate regular season game. This was just the second ever meeting between the two sides, with Trinity winning both games over the Eagles.
The Rundown
Trinity wasted no time in getting things going on Friday evening, opening the scoring after just 41 seconds. Tiger soccer fans won't be surprised that the opener came from good work down the right side from
Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford), who teed up
Abby Schneider (Albuquerque, N.M, / Bosque School) to convert from close range. Schneider celebrated her senior night by doubling the scoring with her seventh goal of the season just three minutes later. They threatened to increase their lead in the first half with their 16 shots and 8 corners.
The Tigers started the second half in similar fashion to the first, with Bosco getting on the scoresheet in the 47th minute after a perfect through ball from Schneider, allowing her to cut in from the right and slot past the Eagles keeper. Bosco capped off her senior night with her 15th assist of the season after a square pass across the top of the box was directed into the bottom left corner by
Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg).
As the clock ticked towards 90, Trinity scored their fifth goal as
Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) won the ball back just outside the box before taking it round three defenders and shooting across the keeper to score her fourth goal in six games. It was yet another shutout for senior goalkeeper
Lauryn Lewis (Carrollton, Texas / Creekview) as she edges towards having the second most shutouts in program history.
