Tiger Women's Soccer Downs The Warhawks

SAN ANTONIO – The Tiger women's soccer team started the family weekend with a 3-0 victory against McMurry University on Friday night.

Trinity (5-1-2) had a resounding victory against the Warhawks. The Tiger women's soccer team have now scored 17 in their eight games and also recorded their 7th shutout this season.

The Rundown

The Tigers walked off Paul McGinlay field after 45 minutes with a 1-0 lead over the Warhawks thanks to a first time headed goal from Abby Schneider (Albuquerque, N.M / Bosque School). The goal was created by Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) with nice footwork and backheel pass into Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg), which allowed her to take an audacious shot from the edge of the box. Rebounding off the crossbar, the ball landed directly onto the head of Schneider who headed home her second goal of the season.

The pressure from Trinity increased into the second half and it took only 13 minutes for the second goal of the game from Kylie Harris (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point). The first-year defender took possession from the opposition near her own half, dribbled it past three defenders where she was left with one option, to shoot. The long-range effort flew over the McMurry goalkeeper and into the back of the net to give Harris her first collegiate goal.

However, Harris wasn't done just yet! Finding herself in a wide right position, she crossed in an excellent ball with her right foot which landed in the path of Maya Ozymy (Dallas, Texas / Coppell) who couldn't miss the opportunity for her first goal of the season. With just one shot on goal from their opposition, Trinity's goalkeeper Lauryn Lewis (Carrollton, Texas / Creekview) goes home with her 6th shutout of the season.
