San Antonio - The Trinity women's soccer team terminated their SCAC regular season the same way it started, with a win on McGinlay Field. This afternoon's game proved why the Tigers have been named regular season champions for the past 3 seasons and will end their time in the SCAC at the top of the table.
The Tigers (14-1-2) are now 10-0 in conference play which completes an undefeated SCAC regular season, scoring 26 goals and conceding just 1.
The Rundown
With a relatively quiet start to the first half, it took first year defender
Kylie Harris (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) to go on a driving run into the center of the pitch and slot through the Centenary defense for Trinity to get onto the scoresheet. Harris's through ball fell perfectly into the stride of
Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg) who took two touches and calmly slotted it low past the goalkeeper's left hand side. A further 6 shots from Trinity in the first half kept the Ladies pinned in their own half but no more goals were scored and the Tigers walked in at half time with a one goal lead.
The second half commenced and the Tigers went out with intent. After multiple chances narrowly missed,
Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) took it upon herself to double Trinity's lead. A through ball from Werner sent Kahn on her way into the opposition box with the goalkeeper heading directly for her. Khan had no right to get there first, but that is exactly what she did and her efforts rewarded her with her name on the scoresheet. Just 30 seconds later Trinity scored again! A bullet cross from winger
Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) gave
Bri Werner her second goal of the game with a first-time finish giving the Ladies' keeper no chance. The domination continued for Trinity and to top off a great offensive performance,
Abby Schneider (Albuquerque, N.M / Bosque School) decided to get in on the scoring action and score her 7th goal of the season credit to an assist from
Hanna Khan.
