No. 13 Tiger Men's Soccer Heads to Vermont to Compete in the Sweet Sixteen

No. 13 Trinity University Men's Soccer travels to Middlebury, Vermont for the sweet sixteen and elite eight rounds of the NCAA III Soccer Playoffs this weekend.
 
The Tigers (19-0-3) opened NCAA tournament play with two 3-0 victories against Belhaven University and Bowdoin College in the first and second rounds. Adam Knutson (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs) opened up his NCAA account with a shot that caught the keeper wrong footed. Midway through the second half, Samuel Theiss (Boerne, Texas / Boerne) found the ball in the box and slotted it past the keeper to make it 2-0 to the Tigers. Moments later, Joey Perryman (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) latched onto the end of a cross to make it three and send the Tigers into the second round. 
 
On Saturday, the Tigers met the Polar Bears in a close first half. Just before the break, Trinity resumed business from set pieces as Luke Chandler (Glasgow, Scotland / Balfron) headed the ball home at the back post to give Trinity the lead. Knutson continued his goal streak with two fine finishes to give the Tigers a comfortable lead and a foot in the sweet sixteen. 
 
The Tigers continue in the NCAA tournament as the only team to be in the top 10 for scoring offense (5th with 3.41 goals per game) and team goals against average (3rd with .455 goals against). 
 
Preview - Tigers vs Beavers
 
The Tigers will face off against the Beavers of Babson College on Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00 PM (ET). The Tigers and Beavers have never met prior to this game.
 
On the Babson Beavers: The Beavers come into the third round with a record of 16-1-6 (7-0-1 NEWMAC). The Beavers defeated both St John Fisher and Wesleyan 1-0 in their NCAA first and second round games. Whilst the Beavers have averaged 1.91 goals per game in offense, they have only conceded an average of .435 goals per game.
 
Looking Ahead - NCAA Playoffs Round Four
 
With a win, the Tigers will move on to the fourth round of the NCAA Playoffs against the winner of the Middlebury versus Claremont Mudd-Scripps match on Sunday, November 24th at 12:30 PM (ET).
