REDLANDS, Calif. – The Tiger women's basketball team overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half for the second straight game to defeat the University of Redlands (CA) 58-52 on Saturday night.
Trinity (2-1) shook off a low-scoring second quarter and an 11-point deficit in the third quarter to rally for the win, holding Redlands to just five points in the fourth quarter. The Tigers started off just 1-for-8 from beyond the arc in the game but connected on 4-for-9 from distance in the second half. The defense also had 16 steals and forced 23 total turnovers, as well as holding the Bulldogs to just 2-for-18 shooting (11.1%) in the final quarter.
Kylie Minter (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) poured in a career-high 27 points to lead all scorers in tonight's game, hitting 9-of-14 from the field (including 2-for-5 from three-point range) and 7-of-10 at the foul line. She also added five rebounds and a game-high six steals.
Josie Napoli (Beaverton, Ore. / Valley Catholic) was the next-highest scorer with nine points, while
Skye O'Rourke (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) once again led the Tiger bench scorers with eight points on 4-for-7 shooting.
Elaine King (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) pulled down a team-best nine rebounds, while
Ivory Scott (Waco, Texas / Waco) had six boards and two assists for Trinity.
