Preview - SCAC & DCC
Â
The Tigers will play their first conference game of the season on the road against Schreiner on Tuesday, December 10th at 5:00 PM. Then, on Saturday, December 14th, they will play against Dallas Christian College at home at 7:30 PM.Â
Â
On the Schreiner Mountaineers: The Mountaineers have struggled this season, posting a 1-7 record so far. Their lone victory was a narrow 72-70 win over Howard Payne, followed by seven consecutive losses. In five of those defeats, Schreiner fell by double digits. Guards Brie Sosa and Tamia Moody lead the team in scoring, each averaging over 10 points per game. Offensively, the Mountaineers have been inconsistent, shooting just 36 percent from the field and 26 percent from three-point range. The Tigers swept all three matchups against Schreiner last season, including a 10-point win in the conference tournament. Historically, Trinity holds a dominant 28-4 record against Schreiner and is currently on a 19-game winning streak in the series.
Â
On the Dallas Christian Crusaders: The Crusaders have a 3-7 record through their first 11 games this season, showing inconsistent offensive performances ranging from 46 to 94 points. Their most notable victory was a 94-72 win over Dallas College Mountain View. Dallas Christian relies heavily on Myah Coleman, who is averaging 11.2 points per game this season. However, the Crusaders have struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 22 percent from three-point range. The Tigers will aim to capitalize on this weakness by forcing DCC to rely on long-range shots. This matchup marks the first-ever meeting between Trinity and Dallas Christian. The Crusaders' most recent game against a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opponent was a 63-45 loss to Southwestern during the 2022-2023 season.
