Preview - Regular Season Round-Up
Â
The Tigers will take on St. Thomas on Friday, February 16th at 7:30 PM in Houston, and then they will take a ride to Shreveport to play Centenary College on Sunday, February 18th at 2:00 PM.
Â
On the St. Thomas Celts: The Celts are 6-17 (4-10 SCAC) as the season comes to a close. UST has had a shaky season, mostly because of their low-scoring offense. The Celts have only scored more than 60 points on five occasions this season, all of those being wins. Other than that, the St. Thomas offense has been kept in check. As a team, the Celts are shooting an abysmal 26.1 percent from three-point land this season. The Celts are led by newly appointed starting guard Ravyn Ellis. Ellis is averaging 9.7 points per game and 37.8 percent from the field. The Tigers are now 8-1 against St. Thomas and have won seven games in a row.Â
Â
On the Centenary Ladies: The Ladies have struggled to the tune of a 2-20 (1-13 SCAC) record this season. Centenary has picked up their two wins with an early victory against Hendrix and a recent overtime win over St. Thomas. The Ladies are a young team, sporting just one upperclassman on the roster. The young squad has shown flashes of big scoring though. Centenary is led by sophomore guard Amiyah Barrow. Barrow is the only Lady shooting over 40 percent from the field to go along with her 11.9 points per game this season. The Tigers kept her in check though, holding Barrow to just 8 points on 3-9 shooting. Trinity is 22-0 against Centenary and has won each of the last five matchups by more than 30 points.
