SAN ANTONIO – The 14th-ranked Tiger women's tennis team remained undefeated this season after racing to an 8-1 victory over Concordia University (TX) on Friday evening.
Trinity (3-0) swept the doubles to start things off, then finished by taking victories in five of the six singles matches as well.
Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and
Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Ariz. / Thunderbird) won an 8-1 decision at line one to start the rout for Trinity, then
Rebecca Stepleman (Atlanta, Ga. / Georgia Connections Academy) and
Elodie Richard (Allen, Texas / Allen) followed with a line three win by the same score to ensure a Tiger lead heading into singles.
Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) and
Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) completed the sweep with an 8-4 win at line two.
Hill and Kim also started the scoring in singles with quick wins at lines one and three by sprinting to identical 6-1, 6-0 victories that clinched the match for Trinity. Andrade followed her teammates with another win for the Tigers at line four, then Concordia avoided the shutout with a third-set tiebreaker win at line two.
Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Heritage) got Trinity back on the board with her line five win, then
Trinity Hatchett (Pearland, Texas / Dawson) finished things off with a straight-set win of her own at line six.
