Story Links

SAN ANTONIO – The 14th-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team wrapped up its first home weekend of the season with an 8-1 win over Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers leveled their season record to 2-2, having also edged Concordia University (TX) 5-4 in yesterday's action. The Cowboys fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss. Trinity swept the three doubles matches, then won five of the six singles matches to finish things off.

Dalton Locke (Humble, Texas / Kingwood) and Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) got Trinity going with a lopsided 8-2 win at the second line of doubles, then Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) and Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) came in with an 8-5 decision at line three to ensure a Tiger lead after doubles. Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep) wrapped up the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at the top line to make it a 3-0 lead for the Tigers.

Liao was the first singles match off the board as he took a 6-1, 6-2 victory at line three, then Kaczmarczyk clinched the team win with his 6-3, 6-1 win at line four. Perry took Trinity to a 6-0 lead with his 7-5, 6-0 win at the top of the singles lineup, then Hardin-Simmons earned its first win of the day after that to avoid the shutout. Dhanani won 6-0, 6-2 at line five, then Ethan Ruppanner (Amarillo, Texas / Tascosa) closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory from the sixth line.
