SAN ANTONIO – The 14th-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team wrapped up its first home weekend of the season with an 8-1 win over Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers leveled their season record to 2-2, having also edged Concordia University (TX) 5-4 in yesterday's action. The Cowboys fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss. Trinity swept the three doubles matches, then won five of the six singles matches to finish things off.
Dalton Locke (Humble, Texas / Kingwood) and
Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) got Trinity going with a lopsided 8-2 win at the second line of doubles, then
Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) and
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) came in with an 8-5 decision at line three to ensure a Tiger lead after doubles.
Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and
Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep) wrapped up the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at the top line to make it a 3-0 lead for the Tigers.
Liao was the first singles match off the board as he took a 6-1, 6-2 victory at line three, then Kaczmarczyk clinched the team win with his 6-3, 6-1 win at line four. Perry took Trinity to a 6-0 lead with his 7-5, 6-0 win at the top of the singles lineup, then Hardin-Simmons earned its first win of the day after that to avoid the shutout. Dhanani won 6-0, 6-2 at line five, then
Ethan Ruppanner (Amarillo, Texas / Tascosa) closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory from the sixth line.

Today's evening match at Schreiner University was postponed, so the Tigers will next play at the ITA Indoor Nationals in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Trinity faces off against fifth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday, February 24, at 2:00 p.m., to start off the three-day event.
