No. 22 Tiger Baseball is back in action for their 2024 crusade.Â
Â
The Tigers are coming off a 31-16 season, an SCAC Championship, and a trip to the NCAA III regional. Trinity was solid on both sides of the ball, posting a 3.44 team ERA and a .295 team batting average. The Tigers were led by All-American starting pitcher
Jackson Teer (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson). Teer threw 86.1 innings with a 2.71 ERA and a .214 opponent batting average. Offensively,
Cristian Holloway (Brownsville, Texas / Veterans Memorial) was a machine for Trinity. Holloway batted .324 for the season with 46 hits and seven doubles. The Tigers will bring back key players from last year's team such as
Ty Preston (Pearland, Texas / Pearland) and
Brandon Nelson (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) to help the Tigers return to the helm of the SCAC and the nation.

Preview - Season Opener
Â
The Tigers will open their 2024 season against Babson College on February 23rd at 6:00 PM, 24th at 2:00 PM, and 25th at 11:00 AM.Â
Â
On the Babson Beavers: The Beavers are coming off of an impressive 24-18 season and a NEWMAC championship appearance. Babson is returning three hitters that had better than a .300 batting average last season. However, the Beavers are only returning one starting pitcher, senior Tristen Spalter. Spalter put up a 3.50 ERA across 69.1 innings while striking out 53. During last year's series, the Tigers took the series win 2-1 but struggled to get the bats going as the run differential was only +2 in favor of Trinity. All in all, the Tigers are 8-7 against Babson since their first game in 2017.Â
Â
Key to the Game
Â
Crooked Numbers: While all teams want to start the season 3-0, most teams want to see how many runs they can put on the board. The Tigers will turn to Preston and Holloway to get the offense started and then the rest of the lineup to hit the ball hard into the gaps and score plenty of runs in the opening series.Â
Looking Ahead
Â
The Tigers will play a four-game series against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on February 29th, March 1st, and March 2nd
