No. 19Â Tiger Baseball digs in for a four-game set against No. 21 the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater this weekend.Â
Â
The Tigers (3-0) had a rollercoaster of a series against Babson. The series started with an 8-2 win, a 15-14 comeback, and a 16-6 offensive explosion. The Tigers are batting .359 as a team with five total home runs. Can't forget about the pitchers though,
Jackson Teer (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) went seven innings, collected 14 strikeouts, and posted a .043 batting average against.
Nicholas Lazzara had a stellar weekend, posting a .571 batting average with two doubles.
Jack Peterson also had a .500 average while also hitting two bombs.Â

Â
From the SCAC and D3baseball Press Release:
Â

Teer struck out 14 batters in seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit and one walk among his 24 batters faced in the game. He opened the game by striking out the side in the first two innings, then finished his outing with four strikeouts over the final two innings, and left the game with a 16-0 lead.

Preview - Whitewater Series
Â
The Tigers will play a four-game series against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater from February 29th through March 2nd. The game on the 29th will be at 6:00 PM, there will be a double header on March 1st at 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The final game will be on March 2nd at 9:00 AM.Â
Â
On the No. 22Â Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks: The Warhawks have not played a game this season but are coming off of a 30-13 season and a WIAC tournament appearance. The Warhawks were an offensive machine, hitting .355 with two hitters hitting over .475. Both of those hitters, Adam Cootway and Sam Paden, will be back for Whitewater as well as two other hitters that batted over .300. The caveat to that, however, is that the Warhawk pitching staff underachieved to the tune of a 4.62 ERA. The bullpen struggled to close out games and that could provide a big advantage to the Tigers. Trinity is 2-2 all time against Whitewater.
Â
Key To The Game
Â
Bullpen: Although the bullpen did not struggle in the series against Babson, there is a chance that they will have to work more with the powerful bats of Wisconsin-Whitewater. If the 'pen can get ahead in the count and pitch the hitter backwards, they will be in a good spot to create weak contact and get out of innings quickly.Â
Â
Looking Ahead
Â
The Tigers will play five games in seven days, starting with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on March 5th.
