No. 14 Tiger Men's Tennis plays at home this week against St. John's University and No. 22 Carnegie Mellon University.Â

Last weekend, the Tigers competed in the ITA DIII Indoor National Championships. Trinity took on some tough competition with three top-15 teams in the country. TU would fall to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Gustavus Adolphus, and Sewanee. Although the Tigers would struggle, the doubles of
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and
Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colorado / Regis Jesuit) won all three matches in the number three slot. Trinity went 6-3 overall in doubles this weekend.Â

SCAC Doubles Team of the Week - Conor Kaczmarczyk and Ethan Flores

For the first time this season, the team of
Conor Kaczmarczyk and
Ethan Flores were selected as the SCAC Doubles Team of the Week.

Kaczmarczyk, a sophomore from Aurora, Colo., and Flores, a first-year from Houston, Texas, earned three doubles wins at the ITA Indoor National Championships over the weekend, as #14 Trinity men's tennis finished eighth at the event. The Tiger doubles duo earned wins in matches against fifth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 12th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus, and 10th-ranked Sewanee. Kaczmarczyk and Flores started with a 6-1 win at line three to jump-start Trinity's doubles sweep to earn the doubles point against Claremont. They also won 6-4 in Saturday's match against Gustavus to help the Tigers to another clinch of the doubles point, then came in as the lone Trinity doubles team to win (6-3) in Sunday's match with Sewanee.

The Tigers will be at
Butch Newman Tennis Center to play against St. John's on Friday, March 1st at 3:00 PM, and then face off against No. 22 Carnegie Mellon on Tuesday, March 5th at 4:30 PM.

On the St. John's Red Storm: The Red Storm are 10-2 so far this season. The NCAA I school has picked up some impressive wins this season. St. John's has defeated Dartmouth and Penn State, along with other wins. Before playing the Tigers, the Red Storm will face fellow NCAA I team in the University of Texas at Austin. This will be another good test for the Tigers as they will see tough competition. This will also be the first time that the Tigers and Red Storm have played each other in their storied histories.Â

On the Carnegie Mellon Tartans: The Tartans are 1-3 in the young spring season. Carnegie has picked up their only win of the season against Oberlin College and the other losses have come against NCAA I & II schools. The Tartans will have a solid top two singles player as they hold the fifth and twentieth-ranked singles players in the country. Those same players will also combine to form a doubles team that is ranked eleventh nationally. The Tigers are 1-2 all time against Carnegie Mellon and this is their first match since 2018.Â
