SAN ANTONIO – Trinity's 16th-ranked Tiger women's tennis team recorded a 9-0 shutout win over #31 Skidmore College (NY) on Wednesday afternoon.
Trinity improved to 8-1 this season, bouncing back immediately after suffering its first loss of the year to second-ranked University of Chicago yesterday. Skidmore fell to 3-3 on the year with the loss.
The Tigers got off to a great start by sweeping doubles, then secured its third shutout of the year by winning all six singles matches as well.
Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and
Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) improved to 7-2 this season with their 8-5 win at line one to start things off.
Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Heritage) and
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, Calif. / Weil Tennis Academy) won at line two, then
Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and
Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) finished off the sweep from the third line.
Andrade was the quickest to finish in singles with her line six win that also upped her season record to 6-1. Hill then clinched the match for the Tigers with her straight-set win at line one. Kim and Cushing were the next two finishers and each of the first four off the court for Trinity snagged their sixth singles wins of the year. Hughes won at line two to keep the momentum going, then Levy finished off the shutout with a 6-4, 6-4 win at line three.
