SAN ANTONIO - No. 14 Tiger Men's Tennis takes down No. 22 Carnegie Mellon on Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers (3-5) took a bounce-back 6-3 victory over the Tartan of Carnegie Mellon. Trinity went down 2-1 in doubles competition but stormed back to win five of the six singles matches.

In doubles,
Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and
Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep (Florida)) fell in a close 8-5 match while the duo of
Rob Chang (Aiea, Hawaii / 'Iolani School) and
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) dropped #2 doubles match 8-1. However,
Rafa Candelas (Zacatecas, Mexico / American School (Spain)) and
Jared Perry (Tucson, Arizona / Catalina Foothills) picked up an 8-4 win over the #3 doubles team of Carnegie Mellon.

For the singles competition, Perry had a nail-biting opening set but pulled out the 7-6 win to then crush his opponent 6-0 in set two. Candelas dropped his singles match with both sets finishing 3-6. For Dhanani, he finished his first set with a 6-4 victory and then won the second set 7-6 by taking the tiebreaker 7-3. Liao finished off his number five singles match winning in two sets, 6-2 and 6-4. Flores won both sets 6-4 in the number six spot.
Connor Whittington (Lake Oswego, Oregon / Lake Oswego) won the final match of the afternoon by taking his number two singles match into three sets where he would win 6-2, then drop set two 3-6, and then take the match with a victorious 6-3 third set.Â
