Â
No. 14 Tiger Baseball tightens their gloves for two midweeks and another SCAC battle.
Â
The Tigers (24-8) won two straight after dropping the first game against Texas Lutheran. After losing game one 0-5, Trinity battled in game two which featured a huge walk-off homer from
Cristian Holloway (Brownsville, Texas / Veterans Memorial). In game three, the Tigers came out with a fire and won 9-6 to clinch the series.
Jack Peterson (Round Rock, Texas / Round Rock) finished the weekend hitting .400 (4-10) where he had a three-hit performance in game three.
Jack Baker (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) also added a three-hit game in the final game of the series.
Jack Briese (Danville, Kentucky / Boyle County) finished off game three on the hill, going 4.2 innings and only allowing one run, bringing his season record to 3-1. Trinity has two pitchers in the top 20 in ERA, with
Jackson Teer (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) sitting in the top spot among qualified pitchers. TU still sits in the top spot in the conference standings, being one win above second-place Centenary.Â

Preview - Let's Get Busy
Â
The Tigers will start the week with a midweek game in Abilene against Hardin-Simmons University on Tuesday, April 16h at 5:00 PM. Trinity will be back at home against conference foe Dallas with a doubleheader on April 20th at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM with the final game being on the following day at 1:00 PM. The Tigers will then play UMHB in Belton on Tuesday, April 23rd at 6:00 PM.Â
Â
On the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys: The Cowboys have struggled this season to the tune of an 11-20 record. HSU is no stranger to SCAC opponents as they have played against Texas Lutheran, Dallas, and St. Thomas. In those games, the Cowboys have gone 5-1 with TLU handing them their only loss. However, Hardin-Simmons has hit a lull by losing five out of their last six games. Their offense has backpacked their season but their pitching staff has struggled mightily. Only three of the sixteen Cowboy pitchers used this season have an ERA under 4.00 so this match up will be good for the Tiger bats. All time, the Tigers are 18-9 against the Hardin-Simmons.
Â
On the Dallas Crusaders: Dallas has been a different team this season as they are 19-11 (7-7 SCAC). The Crusaders started their season HOT, going 12-1 in the first 13 games of the season. They have also been competitive in conference play, taking the series against TLU and Austin College while also splitting with Centenary. Currently, Dallas sits on the outside looking in for the conference tournament. Expect UD to throw the kitchen sink at the Tigers because this is a very important series for them. Dallas had two starters hitting over .300 with junior first baseman Caleb Hohman leading the way at .370. This is set to be a pitching battle because UD has two starting pitchers with 2.75 ERA's. They also have two bullpen arms with ERAs under 4.00. Dallas is also sixth in the country in WHIP (1.29) so the Tigers will need to make the most of their opportunities with runners on base. Trinity is 50-5 all-time against Dallas.
Â
On the UMHB Crusaders: The Crusaders have had a very successful season so far as they hold a 20-12 record. One of the wins came against Trinity earlier this year by a score of 6-3. In their most recent series against UT-Dallas, the Crusaders dropped two of three games that included a narrow 1-0 loss and then a 12-2 blowout. Despite that, Mary Hardin-Baylor sports one of the most dangerous offenses in the country as they are hitting .316 as a team with a .846 OPS. On the other side of the ball, their staff has been spectacular. UMHB ranks 27th in the nation with a 3.91 team ERA. This will be another clash of the Titans this season and with Mary Hardin-Baylor taking game one of this season, they are now 29-12 all-time against the Tigers.Â
