No. 9 Tiger Baseball gets locked in for their final regular season series of the year.
The Tigers (28-9) are fresh off a series win against the University of Dallas and a midweek victory over UMHB. Although Trinity lost game one in a nail-biter, they stormed back for two run-rule shutouts in games two and three. The Tigers found a different offensive leader in each game. However, the Tigers took advantage of Crusader mistakes by having 17 RBIs, five extra-base hits, and 9 hit by pitches. Against UMHB,
Colt Harris (Katy, Texas / Houston Christian) went 2-3 with three RBIs and two home runs.
Trajan Lee (Dallas, Texas / John Paul II) and
Jackson Teer (San Antonio, Texas) both went seven shutout innings and fanned a total of 15 hitters. In 24 total innings played, the Trinity pitching staff only gave up one run. Trinity now sits 15th in the country in ERA (3.66).
SCAC Pitcher of the Week - Jackson Teer
For the THIRD time this season,
Jackson Teer has been selected as the SCAC Pitcher of the Week.
From the SCAC Press Release:
Teer led the 12th-ranked Trinity Tigers to a 3-1 record last weekend, including an SCAC series win over Dallas to stay atop the league standings going into the final week of the regular season. Teer tossed a five-hit shutout in his only appearance last week, striking out eight batters in 7.0 innings of work. His victory came in game one of Sunday's doubleheader and set the tone for a doubleheader sweep that secured the series for the Tigers.
Preview - Last Regular Season Series
The Tigers will travel to Shreveport to take on Centenary on Friday, April 26th at 6:00 PM. Trinity will then play in a doubleheader the next day at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
On the Centenary Gents: The Gents have had a successful season as they hold an 18-14 (12-5 SCAC) record so far. Trinity and Centenary met earlier this year in a non-conference game where the Tigers blew out the Gents 13-4. However, Centenary has only lost one conference series this season to Texas Lutheran. The Gents have found their success through one of the deepest lineups in the country. Seven of the nine everyday players for Centenary are batting over .300. Senior Jobee Boone leads the way with a .379 average and 14 doubles. Centenary also has a solid starter in Cody Meyers. Meyers has a 1.48 ERA in 67 innings pitched this season. All time, the Tigers are 37-20 against Centenary.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will compete for an SCAC championship starting on May 3rd.
