SAN ANTONIO - Trinity University Women's Soccer defeated the University of Texas-Dallas on Friday evening.
The Tigers (2-0-2) took a 1-0 victory over the Comets. First year
Alex Doran (Boerne, Texas / Geneva School of Boerne) scored her goal of the season and career. Defensively, the Tigers were a steel curtain. Through 90 minutes of play, Trinity did not allow a shot on goal while putting nine of their own shots on goal. The Tigers did not allow a corner kick as well.
The Rundown
The Tigers started fast in the second half, shooting 11 times in the first 20 minutes.
Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) put the pressure on the Comet goal with a shot into the bottom center but it was saved by the keeper. The rest of the half was quiet and it ended with the scoreboard showing 0-0.
The Tigers put a ball on goal early in the second half when
Abby Schneider (Albuquerque, New Mexico / Bosque School) ripped one into the top left corner but was saved by the Comet keeper. In the 76th minute, Duran had a soft touch on a ball near the sideline. She then raced down the field and overcame a Comet defender in the box. Finally, she laced a shot just outside of the six into the top corner for the game-winning goal. Trinity kept possession for the next 14 minutes and ended with a 1-0 victory.
