Preview - Generals March Into Tiger Country
The Tigers will take on the Washington & Lee Generals on Saturday, September 21st with a noon kickoff.
On the Washington & Lee Generals: The Generals will roll into Trinity Multi-Purpose Stadium with a 1-1 record. In their opener, Washington & Lee (W&L) fell to Salisbury 26-48, but they bounced back with a decisive 68-28 victory over Newport News Apprentice School. Defensively, the Generals have struggled with big plays, allowing seven touchdowns of 45 yards or more out of 11 total. Senior linebacker Jalen Todd is a key defensive player, leading the team with 17 total tackles. Offensively, W&L employs a unique twist on the traditional triple option wing-T offense by incorporating the shotgun formation. The Generals have focused heavily on the run game, with 113 rushing attempts compared to just 21 pass attempts. This means Trinity's front seven will need to maintain discipline against the run, while the defensive backs must stay alert for play-action passes. Senior running back Jacob Romero is a central figure in the offense, having rushed for 234 yards so far. Quarterback Ty Collins has thrown for 228 yards and five touchdowns across the two games. This match up will be the first-ever meeting between the Tigers and the Generals on the football field.
Looking Ahead - SAA Opener
Trinity will open SAA play against Centre College in Danville, Kentucky on October 5th.
