The Rundown
Trinity started relatively slowly but had the first legitimate chance when Knutson rifled a shot at goal from the edge of the box, barely missing the target. The half continued with the Tigers dominating possession, leaving Schreiner camped in their own half.
It was all square twenty minutes in when a long ball from Baltov was flicked on by a leaping Donnelly fell into the striding Sukow, who took on his defender and whipped a ball across goal where a waiting Knutson tapped it home to score the opener.
Only fifteen minutes later the Tigers pounced again. A long free kick from Shuey put the pressure on the Mountaineers' keeper, who made a costly mistake and pushed the ball into the path of Cain. Cain's goal means he has now scored in six consecutive games.
The second half began with no mercy from the Tigers, as Shuey connected on a deep swung corner from Baltov to head home his first goal of the season. It was the same story as the first half as relentless pressure from the Tigers kept the Mountaineers locked in, limiting Schreiner to just two shots on goal. A great run and cross from Theiss late in the second half saw the ball sail to the back post where Knutson was waiting yet again to score his second of the game. Cain also returned to the scoresheet to notch his second goal of the game, springing onto a deflected shot from Theiss to tap home his seventh of the season and go level with Knutson.
