The Tigers (3-3) took a 3-1 loss to WashU, bringing them to finish the East-West Battle 0-3. Super Seniors
Maddie Fate (New York, New York / Croton Harmon) and
Mackenzie Logan (Calgary, Canada / Bishop Carroll) led Trinity offensively with 10 kills apiece. Fate had a monster day, hitting at a .714 clip and collecting 1.5 blocks for a total of 12 points.
Kendall DeRivel (Westlake Village, California / Viewpoint) had 21 assists. The junior duo of
Reagan Whatley (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands) and
Jenna Rodriguez (San Antonio, Texas / Antonian) put in 10 digs each. With the loss, the Tigers moved to 2-17 all time against WashU.Â

The Rundown
Â
Trinity dropped the first two points of the match, but
Connelley McWilliams (from Austin, Texas / St. Michael's) got the Tigers on the board with a kill. DeRivel then served three consecutive aces, shifting the lead back to Trinity. WashU responded with a strong run, scoring five consecutive points to take a 13-11 lead. Despite Trinity regaining the lead with a four-point streak, the Bears finished the set with a 9-2 run, winning 25-20.

WashU took a 13-4 lead in the second set. Logan and
Lauren McCarthy (from Corrales, New Mexico / Horizon) helped the Tigers narrow the gap with three aces, but the Bears' lead was too substantial. The Bears eventually won the set with a score of 25-18.

Trinity was hot to start the third set as
Brynn Bishop (Indianola, Iowa / Indianola) had not one, not two, not three, but FOUR aces in a row that gave TU a 6-1 edge. Although WashU took a 12-11 lead later in the set, Trinity scored three straight and brought the lead back to the good guys. After a kill from Logan, Bishop put her in fifth ace of the set and grew the Tiger lead to three. Whatley, as well as
Kathryn Detweiler (Goshen, Indiana / Goshen) put in two kills each and
Courtney Pope (New Braunfels, Texas / Canyon) finished off the set for the 25-19 Trinity win.Â

In set four, the maroon and white started strong with a 9-5 lead, but the Bears fought back to tie the score at 12. After a period of exchanging points, WashU scored three consecutive points to pull ahead 20-17. The Bears ultimately won the set 25-21 and secured the match with a 3-1 victory.
