The Trinity University Swimming & Diving teams look to put Southwestern in Davy Jones's Locker this Saturday.
Last time out, the Tigers destroyed Austin College. The 18th-ranked Tiger women secured the team title with 844 points while the 21st-ranked Tiger men secured the team title with 857 points. The 400-yard freestyle relay team dominated the field, winning in 3:48.76. In the 200-yard freestyle,
Rachel Brown (Flower Mound, Texas / Marcus) claimed victory with a time of 2:02.98.
Neely Burns (Phoenix, Arizona / Thunderbird) delivered standout performances, winning both the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.26) and the 100-yard freestyle (56.30). In backstroke events,
Allison Ortiz (Houston, Texas / Stratford) captured the 200-yard backstroke title (2:16.35). The 400-yard freestyle relay team secured first place with a commanding time of 3:17.24. In individual events,
Luke Fender (Jackson, Mississippi / St. Andrew's Episcopal) won the 200-yard IM (2:02.14) and contributed to the team's overall depth. Trinity also swept the podium in the 50-yard freestyle, with
Daniel Itkins (Houston, Texas / The Village School) (22.43),
Nathan Perez (Alpharetta, Georgia. / Johns Creek) (22.51), and
Ian Truong (Tulsa, Oklahoma / Jenks) (22.64) finishing first, second, and third, respectively.
SCAC Player of the Week - Nathan Perez
For the second time in his career,
Nathan Perez has been selected as the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Perez had two wins and two second place finishes at the Austin College Invite on Saturday. He topped the 100 freestyle in 48.84, before swimming a second faster to anchor the winning 400 freestyle relay. Perez was also second in the 50 free (22.51) and 100 fly (53.53).
Preview - Setting Sail To Hixon Natatorium
The Tigers will return to Hixon Natatorium for a dual meet against Southwestern on Saturday, January 18th. The competition will begin with diving at noon, followed by a senior ceremony at 12:45 PM. Swimming events will start at 1:00 PM.
About the Southwestern Pirates: This meet marks the Pirates' first competition of the spring semester. In 2024, both Southwestern teams fell to Colorado College but earned victories over Austin College. The women's team claimed first place at the Celt Invite, while the men's team finished second. Additionally, the Pirates competed in the Tiger Invitational, where the women placed third and the men finished fourth. In last season's dual meet against Southwestern, both Tiger teams came out on top. The Tiger women captured 12 event wins, and the men dominated with a 196-90 victory.

Trinity will head across the street to swim against the University of Incarnate Word on January 26th.
