No. 23 Tiger Football returns to San Antonio to battle against Rhodes College.
The Tigers (4-1, 1-1 SAA) are coming off a tough road loss against nationally ranked Berry College 29-6. During that game, however,
Hayden Rhoades (Grapevine, Texas / Grapevine) accounted for all of Trinity's points, converting on two field goals during the game, the first was from 24 yards and the other was from 37 yards.
Hondo Franklin (Allen, Texas / Lovejoy) had another efficient game. Franklin went 23-29 for 178 yards without an interception.
Alejandro Tavarez (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) led all receivers with 95 yards on six catches.
Preview - Tigers vs Lynx
Trinity will be back in San Antonio for the first of back-to-back home games. The squad will take on Rhodes College on Saturday, October 18th with kickoff scheduled for noon.
On the Rhodes Lynx: The Lynx head into the 210 with a 1-4 record (0-2 SAA). Their lone win this season came against Austin College, 31-17 — a program that has gone 3-17 over the past three seasons and sits at 1-3 in 2025. Since that victory, Rhodes has been outscored 146-61 over its last three games. Most recently, the Lynx fell 45-19 to Millsaps College.
In the backfield, Rhodes leans on running backs Robert Daniel and Jelani Lovett to handle the majority of the workload. Together, they've combined for 87 carries, 349 yards, and an average of roughly four yards per attempt. Junior quarterback Taylor Haas has taken over under center, completing 53 of 87 passes for 622 yards and three touchdowns. Haas threw for more than 200 yards against both Hendrix and Berry but was limited to just 94 yards through the air against Millsaps. Junior receiver Austin Smith has been his top target, hauling in 23 receptions for 236 yards and one touchdown.
On defense, defensive back Lawrence Watts leads the Lynx with 43 total tackles, including 31 solo stops. Cornerback Jonathan Torres has seven pass breakups, while defensive lineman JD Davis has pressured opposing quarterbacks three times. As a unit, Rhodes has recorded 10 sacks and three interceptions this season. On special teams, Grady Jones has punted 20 times, pinning five inside the 20-yard line.
In last season's meeting, the Tigers defeated Rhodes 38-14 to extend their winning streak in the series to nine straight. Historically, Trinity holds a 25-12 advantage over the Lynx.
