SAN ANTONIO – With a special Senior Night underway and a game against a nationally ranked team, it was a significant matchup for the Tigers. On this special night, the Tigers indeed delivered a 1-0 victory over Rhodes College.

The Rundown
It was a big matchup for the Tigers as they came into the match as the underdogs. However, they did not let this strike fear in how they played. They immediately came out strong with complete bass possession and dominance. The Tigers created multiple dangerous chances but were struggling to find the net but never slowed down with full belief that their moment was coming. The Tiger defense easily shut down the Lynx attack, led by senior captain Ilsa Newland (St. Louis, Mo. / Kirkwood), who played a standout match on her senior night.

Heading into the second half, the Tigers were nowhere near ready to give up. In a brilliant moment in the 70th minute of the match, midfielder Malea Cesar (Portland, Ore. / Sunset) made a perfectly timed tackle to steal the ball from the Lynx midfield and ball a play through to forward Lila Brackin (Dallas, Texas / Lake Highlands). Brackin took the perfect first touch to set her up in a beautiful scoring position. She nailed it past the Lynx keeper, connecting to the net and putting the Tigers up 1-0. This was Brackin's first career goal.

It was clear the Tiger came into the match with a purpose of making a statement to all teams that they should not be overlooked, as well as determined to get a win for their seniors in this high stakes game.
