SAN ANTONIO – Coming off a big win this past Friday against Rhodes College, Trinity came into this matchup ready to keep the streak going. The Tigers earned a demanding 10-0 victory against Millsaps College.
The Rundown
The Tigers were off to a quick start, when in the fourth minute of the match,
Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg) and
Madisyn Barganski (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff) had a combination play, ending in Barganski sending a through ball to forward
Alex Doran (Boerne, Texas / Geneva School of Boerne). Doran easily beat her defender and struck the ball beautifully into the net, making the match a quick 1-0. Soon after in the eighth minute, Doran found Werner's feet at the top of the 18-yard box. Werner effectively beat her defender and knocked the ball into the net. Only 29 seconds later,
Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) crossed the ball into Barganski, who placed the ball calmly into the back of the net, making the match 3-0. Later on in the 20th minute, Barganski raced to the end line to drop the ball into Werner, beating the Majors own keeper to it. Barganski placed the perfect ball for Werner to lightly tap into the back of the net. Three minutes later, the Tigers drew a free kick from right outside of the 18-yard box. Khan went up for the kick and placed a perfect, professional level free kick into the upper 90 of the net, making the match 5-0. In the 30th minute of the match, forwards
Lila Brackin (Dallas, Texas / Lake Highlands) and
Ava Degrand (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands / Cayman International School) created a beautiful combination, resulting in a cross right to midfielder
Clara Richards (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville South), who powerfully struck the ball right into the goal on her first touch. This was the Tigers sixth goal of the match. Closing out the half, Brackin received a lovely cross from
Finley Hoover (Houston, Texas / St. Agnes Academy), finishing it right into the back of the net. This half ended with a 7-0 score line.
Heading into the second half, the Tigers were nowhere near ready to slow down. In the 64th minute, midfielder
Nina Pollak (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda-Chevy Chase) threaded through multiple Majors to find the feet of forward
Emily Camp (Houston, Texas / The Kinkaid School), who took a leading first touch and fired the ball into the back of the net. This was Camp's first career goal. Soon after in the 79th minute forward
Anna Newland (Kirkland, Mo. / Kirkland) crossed the ball into the box, where Degrand found the ball and passed it with ease into the back of the net. This marked Degrand's first career goal. To end the game, Degrand received a ball from midfielder
Hailey Schlosser (San Jose, Calif. / Branham). Degrand turned to find the feet of Newland. Newland took a perfectly weighted first touch and launched the ball past the keeper into the net, marking her first career goal. The final goal, in the 88th minute of the match, marked the final scoreline at an even 10-0. With multiple first career goals, this match gave the Tigers confidence in their scoring abilities, as well as their ability to control a full match as they head into the final game of season play.
