SAN ANTONIO – The 20th-ranked Trinity University Women's Swim and Dive team faced off DII UT- Permian Basin at home on Saturday afternoon, dominating the pool with a final score of 204-67!
The Tigers won 9 individual races and the 400 medley relay, along with a win in the 200 freestyle mixed relay with two people from the women's and men's team coming together to race and win!
First-years
Ava Easley (Allen, Texas/Lovejoy) and
Kaitlyn Phan (Austin, Texas/Westlake) and Senior
Neely Burns (Phoenix, Ariz./Thunderbird) won 2 individual events each leading the team, along with Sophomore
Anna Stouffer (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) who won the 100 free, Senior
Audrey Jacobson (Dallas, Texas/School for the Talented and Gifted) who won the 1000 free, and first-year
Kaya Alvegaard-Strubble (Kansas City, Mo./Pembroke Hill) who won the 200 backstroke.
Burns, Easley, and Alvegaard-Strubble were joined by junior
Allison Ortiz (Houston, Texas/Stratford) for the win in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:00.63 to start off the meet. Trinity was also able to snag silver in a tight race with UTPB, beating them by 0.59 seconds. They were led by Phan who was joined by sophomore

Addie Domilise (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands), and sophomore
Sienna Nordquist (Albuquerque, N.M./Hope Christian) with a time of 4:09.27. Senior
Renne Trombley (Fort Collins Co./Fossil Ridge) led the third relay group with fellow seniors
Lindsay McKinney (Victoria, Texas/Saint Joseph),
Erica Peterson (Lantana, Texas/Guyer), and
Jules Wiehrdt (Waco, Texas/Midway). Watching this event live was so exciting because it was such a competitive race all the way to the finish!
For the first individual event of the afternoon Trinity went 1-2-3 to start us out, led by Jacobson who took gold with a time of 11:15.23 and was joined by fellow senior
Erin Morie (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) who took second with a time of 11:41.04, and sophomore
Diane Park (Beaverton, Ore./Mountainside) who took third with a time of 12:07.05. These ladies absolutely dominated this long distance event with the help of fellow teammates counting their laps for them and cheering them on!
For our second individual event of the afternoon, Phan took her first gold in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.71 where she along with three of her teammates were fighting for that first place position. She was very closely followed by junior
Amy Benson (Newmarket, N.H/Phillips Exeter Academy) who took silver with a time of 2:00.91, first-year
Sophia Mandanis (Wichita, Kan./Andover) who took bronze with a time of 2:02.02 and Domilise who took fourth with a time of 2:15.59.
Alvegaard-Struble led the Tigers in the 100 backstroke taking second by 0.41 with a time of 1:00.63 joined by Wiehrdt who got third with a time of 1:02.87, followed by Ortiz taking fourth with a time of 1:04.87 and Trombely who got fifth with a time of 1:07.16.
Representing the Tigers in the 100 breakstroke was McKinney who got second with a time of 1:10.16 and Stouffer who got third with a time of 1:15.97.
Burns got her first individual gold of the evening in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:14.80 followed by Domilise who got second with a time of 2:19.00 and Ortiz who got third with a time of 2:28.93.
Another 1-2-3 for the evening in the 50 free where Easley got her first gold with a time of 25.44, followed by Alvegaard-Struble who got second with a 25.63, and Wiehrdt who got third with a 25.79.
Even though UTPB's divers couldn't make it, our team still competed their 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with first-year
Juliet Hood (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) winning both boards!
Sophomore
Charlotte Brod (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) got second in the 3M and third in the 1M, first-year
Aubrey DeLeon (Corpus Christi, Texas/King) got third in the 3M and second in the 1M, and first-year
Andie Torres (San Antonio, Texas/Reagan) got fourth in both the 1M and 3M.
Diving back into swimming, Stouffer won her gold in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.27, followed by Jacobson who got third with a time of 59.10, joined by Domilise who got fifth with a time of 1:01.23 and Park who got seventh with a time of 1:03.74.
Alvegaard-Strubble got her gold in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.20 fighting off UTPB all by herself in this event, going a season best by 0.47 seconds in only her second ever college dual meet!
Burns got her second win of the afternoon in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.39 joined by McKinney who got second with a time of 2:37.19 and Morie who got fourth with a time of 2:41.79. Alumni Michael Kohl volunteered to commentating the swim meet today, saying some encouraging words about Burns when she won her second event of the day. When she touched the wall he said "She is the man, the myth, the legend" choosing some awesome words to describe the team captain!
For the 500 freestyle, Phan took her second gold of the afternoon with a time of 5:26.57 joined by Peterson who got second with a time of 5:34.88, Trombely who got fourth with a time of 5:47.36, Nordquist who got fifth with a time of 5:48.92 and Jacobson who went a 5:27.43 who didn't score in this event but still chose to swim!
Our Tigers represented so well in the pool going 1-2-3-4 in the 100 fly with Easley leading the pack followed by Mandanis, Benson, and Penry, respectively.
To finish out our individual events for the afternoon is the 200 individual medley where Peterson took silver with a 2:18.42 where she out-touched Mandanis who took third by 0.16 with a 2:18.58, Morie took fourth with a 2:24.52 and McKinney took fifth with a 2:26.94.
To finish off the afternoon the meet concluded with a 200 freestyle mixed relay, which isn't a regularly seen event! Our women's team was joined by the men's team to compete together where the Tigers took gold, made up of first-year

Head Coach
Cathleen Pruden had some encouraging words to say about the Tigers, that even though "they're coming off of a tough week of training, there were still some great swims!" She continues with "The women saw some nice improvement from our meet two weeks ago. It was awesome to have our divers on the boards for the first meet this season. I think the women will really shine next week in Chicago and New York!"
