Preview - Talkin' Tennessee
The Tigers will head to Maryville, Tennessee on Saturday, November 15th with kickoff set for 12:00 PM (ET).
On the Maryville Scots: The Scots enter the matchup with a 7-2 record (4-2 SAA). Their two losses came in a 31-21 upset against Millsaps and a 36-7 defeat to nationally ranked Berry. Senior running back Chris Cooper leads the ground game with 557 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, though he has carried the ball more than 15 times in only one game this season.
The passing attack is the heart of the Scots' offense. Senior quarterback Bryson Rollins has been outstanding, throwing for nearly 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns. However, he has also been prone to riskier decisions, throwing nine interceptions. Tight end Jalen McCullough has emerged as Rollins' favorite target, hauling in nine touchdown receptions. At 6-foot-5,
McCullough is a constant red-zone threat and a reliable jump-ball option near the goal line.
Defensively, defensive back Grant Henderson leads the team with 51 tackles, while fellow DB Jacquese Abner has recorded three interceptions. On the defensive line, Gaven Aldridge and Mark Collier have each registered three sacks this season.
On special teams, kicker Luke Pinkston has struggled, going 0-for-3 on field goal attempts — including 0-for-2 from 20–29 yards and 0-for-1 from 30–39 yards.
This weekend's matchup will mark the first-ever meeting between Trinity and Maryville.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will await their fate for the NCAA playoffs as the selection show airs on Sunday, November 16th at 5 PM (ET).
