Tiger Women's Hoops Opens 2025-26 Season Against Emory

San Antonio, TEXAS – The Trinity women's basketball team will open its season this Saturday, Nov. 8, vs. Emory University.

Last season, the Tigers went 16-12, including 10-6 in SCAC play, and made a deep postseason run to reach the SCAC Championship game before falling to Texas Lutheran University 63-73. It was the first time Trinity missed the NCAA Tournament since 2019.
This year, they bring back a wealth of experience as they look to continue that late-season momentum. Three starters from last season's opener are back, including senior guard Kylie Minter (League City, Texas / Clear Springs), who led the Tigers in scoring with 16.9 points per game. Senior forwards Elaine King (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) and Natalie Greenwood (Roanoke, Texas / Byron Nelson) are the other returning starters, forming an experienced defensive duo that combined for 59 blocks last year.

Senior guard Skye O'Rourke (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift), sophomore guard Jivana Caceras (Kyle, Texas / Hays) and sophomore guard Lily Sauvageau (Houston, Texas / Second Baptist) all averaged double-digit minutes last year for the Tigers, giving Head Coach Cameron Hill plenty of experienced playmakers to work with in his 14th season at the helm of the program.

Preview - Emory Eagles

This will be the first time Trinity has matched up against the Eagles. Both teams will be looking to return to winning ways after missing the NCAA Tournament last season despite multiple-year streaks of making the big dance. Emory has been picked to finish third in the UAA behind preseason #1 NYU and Washington U., who is receiving votes nationally.

Last season, the Eagles were 15-10 and 7-7 in conference play. Junior guard Alexandra Loucopoulos led the team last year with 11.8 points per game, as she was named to the All-UAA First Team and to the All-Region Team. Two other players, senior guard Chloe Kruesser and senior forward Katherine Martini, started double-digit games for the Eagles and will return this year. Their strength lies in their defense, holding opponents to just 26% shooting from beyond the arc last season.

Looking Ahead

After opening the season at home, the Tigers will head to Illinois Wesleyan University for the Champions Classic on Nov. 15-16. Matchups against 10th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan and Millikin University will highlight the weekend.
