The Rundown
Trinity stormed onto the court at the Bell Center, ready to take on Southwestern in another SCAC showdown. The Tigers wasted no time making their presence known, as
Kylie Minter drilled a three-pointer for the game's first points. Southwestern tried to answer back, but Trinity quickly found their rhythm, launching a 10-0 run fueled by Trinity's offensive prowess. Trinity's ball movement and perimeter shooting kept them in control, closing out the first quarter with a commanding 30-12 lead.
The Trinity offense kept their foot on the gas pedal, getting out to a 15-2 run to start the second quarter. Southwestern sprinkled a few buckets in here and there. However, Trinity countered every move, with
Natalie Greenwood providing key rebounds and second-chance opportunities. Minter and Napoli continued their three-point barrage, extending the lead to 36 midway through the period. Despite Southwestern's defensive adjustments, Trinity's efficiency from beyond the arc and their ability to force turnovers led to a 61-22 halftime advantage.
The third quarter saw the Tigers continue their dominance. In the middle of the quarter, Southwestern put in a few buckets. However, Trinity refused to let up, responding with defensive tenacity created multiple fast-break opportunities. Trinity's depth shined, with key contributions from the bench maintaining the high tempo. Even as Southwestern found sporadic offensive success, Trinity's well-rounded attack kept the lead safe, heading into the fourth quarter up 82-39.
With the game well in hand, Trinity continued to dominate in the final quarter. Napoli, Minter, and Greenwood added to the Tigers' tally with strong finishes in the paint, while Caceres capped off the night with a deep three-pointer. Southwestern battled to the final whistle, but the Tigers' overwhelming performance was too much to handle. When the final buzzer sounded, Trinity celebrated a dominant 110-56 victory.
Coach Speak
When I think about
Bailey Timmons and
Josie Napoli, I see Dori and Marlin," said Head Coach
Cameron Hill. "The goal: to find Nemo, and for our purposes, Nemo will be represented by a SCAC Championship. While Dori knows the waters and has invaluable experience to share with Marlin, Marlin brings relentless motivation to the equation. One without the other surely ends in disappointment, (just like Valentine's Day), but TOGETHER TIGERS THEY ARE, and together anything is possible. Nemo needs them as much as they need Nemo. And the universe understands this!!! ONWARD!!!"
