Box Score 2 DALLAS, TEXAS - No. 7 Tiger Baseball splits the first two games of the series against the University of Dallas.
Kai Tinker (Simi Valley, California / Grace Brethren) was on fire at the plate, totaling five hits in nine at bats while collecting three RBIs.
Khalfani Coney (Los Angeles, California / Crossroads School) had three hits, and two runs scored in game two.
Trajan Lee (Dallas, Texas / John Paul II) took the mound in game two and did not disappoint. Lee threw seven shutout innings, only allowing one hit while striking out nine.
In game one the Tigers fell behind early; they were down 1-7 by the fourth inning. They made a comeback after
Thomas Moss (Sugar Land, Texas / Kempner) put up three RBIs to shift the momentum. Trinity ended up putting eight more points up on the board, but it wasn't enough to combat the Crusaders early lead.
Trinity had a comeback in game two by setting the tone early with three RBIs in the second inning. The Tigers continued their lead throughout the game putting up a total eleven runs while completely shutting down the crusader's offense, not allowing a single run.
The Rundown, Game 1
It was a rough start for the Tigers finishing the fourth inning down 1-7.
Kaleb Woodward (San Pedro, California / Palos Verdes) put Trinity on the board in the first inning off an RBI from Moss. In the fifth inning, Trinity started to make a comeback after Moss,
Nicholas Lazzara (Carrollton, Texas / Jesuit College Prep), and
Nicholas Jones (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) put in three consecutive hits to push three runs across to finish the inning at 5-8. Then in the sixth inning, Trinity made another push after the UD outfielder missed a catch allowing two more runners to touch home for it to be 7-11. Ultimately, there wasn't enough time for the Tigers to catch up, with the final score being 9-12.
The Comeback, Game 2
After the loss in game one, the good guys came back with a vengeance for game two. Starting off strong in the second inning with RBIs from
Pierce Matthews (Carrollton, Texas / Hebron) and
Mattias Rytting (Houston, Texas / Bellaire) putting the Tigers up 3-0 early. Jones continued the push on an RBI out to left field, plating another. The Crusaders looked to stop the Tigers in fourth. However, the steam rolling continued as the squad put up four more runs on the board. After Lee put up two more zeroes in the fifth and sixth, the Tiger bats jumped back on the attack. In the sixth inning, TU put up three more runs courtesy of
Callen Singhania (Dallas, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) and
Kai Tinker. Lee shut down the Crusaders for two more innings to secure the 11-0 run-rule.
