WHITNEY, Texas – The 12th-ranked Trinity University Women's Golf team continues to dominate the field at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships and are leading the by a wide margin after shooting a team score of 313 in round two on Monday.
The Tigers significantly widened their lead over second-place Southwestern University and are currently 40 strokes ahead of the Pirates. University of Dallas is currently in third after shooting 345 for round two. Schreiner University is in fourth, while University of St. Thomas and Texas Lutheran University are in fifth and sixth. Rounding out the field is Centenary College in seventh and McMurry University in eighth. Trinity also has the top three players in the field and all five Tiger competitors are in the top 15.
Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) had a phenomenal performance today shooting an all-time career low even-par score of 72, which is also the lowest second round score in SCAC history. She wrapped up her day with four birdies, nine pars, and finished the back nine at two-under par in round two. Huddleston had a nine-shot improvement from yesterday's opening round and is leading the field with a two-round score of 153 (81-72).
Alejandra Sanchez De La Fuente Molino (Marbella, Spain / Atalaya) is in second, six strokes behind Huddleston with a score of 159 (82-77). With a two-day score of 160 (76-84),
Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) is in third place.
Carmen Kennett (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) tied for seventh after improving her first-round score by seven shots and finishing Monday with a two-day total of 167 (87-80).
Kate Schulle (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) is in fourteenth with a score of 176 (89-87).
