WACO, Texas – The 25th-ranked Trinity men's tennis teams rolled into the Southern Collegiate Conference (SCAC) Tournament with a 4-0 sweep over McMurry University (TX) Friday night.
As the number one seed, the Tigers earned a first-round bye and got their tournament run started in the quarterfinals. With the win, Trinity moves to 14-10 on the season and stretches their win streak to three straight matches.
Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) and
Conor Kaczmarcyzk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) opened doubles with a convincing 6-1 victory at line three. Right behind them,
Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep) and
Aashih Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) promptly followed with a 6-0 win at line two, locking the doubles point for Trinity.
The Tigers stayed strong and steady in singles.
Ryan Warren (Keller, Texas / Connections Academy) powered through his opponent at line three, winning 6-0, 6-1. Next to finish was
Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) who won his match 6-3, 6-0. Perry confidently won his match at line one dropping no gains leading to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph.
Trinity now advances to the SCAC Semifinals and will face Concordia University (TX) on Saturday, April 26, at 9:00 a.m. The winner will move to Sunday's championship final, which is also scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
