WACO, Texas – The 11th ranked Trinity women's tennis team didn't waste any time on Friday, rolling to a 5-0 win over McMurry University (TX) to open the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament.
The Tigers, now 18-4 on the season, jumped out to a fast start in doubles. At line three,
Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) and
Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) were awarded a walkover after McMurry was short a player and unable to fill their lineup.
Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) picked up a quick 6-0 win at line one, clinching the doubles point. The team of
Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and
Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kansas / Shawnee Mission East) followed shortly after, with a victory of 6-1 at line two.
In singles, Trinity remained in control. Tin earned a walkover win at line six to put the Tigers up 2-0. Hill was the first to finish on court, winning 6-1, 6-0 at line one. Levy followed right behind, after a near flawless 6-0, 6-0 match at line four to clinch the match. Hughes also picked up a win not even a minute after Levy, closing out her match at line three with a 6-1, 6-1 success.
The Tigers will return to play tomorrow, on Saturday, April 26th, taking on Concordia University (TX) in the semifinals. The match will begin at 12:00 p.m.
