HOUSTON, Texas - The Trinity University softball team drops game two (3-8) and three (1-3) to the St. Thomas Celts to close their final Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series of the season.
The Tigers (30-10, 23-7 SCAC) couldn't pull ahead of the Celts in today's doubleheader. With the losses, the Tigers will head into the SCAC Tournament as the third seed.
Game Two - Trinity 3, St. Thomas 8
The Tigers got things going in the top of the third, with singles by
Hayden Del Toro (Cypress, TX. / Cy Woods) and
Sydney Watson (San Antonio, TX. / San Antonio Christian).
Samantha Tagawa (Agoura Hills, Calif. / Agoura) came up with a double to center field to score two runs and put the Tigers on the board.
Ella Whitacre (Roanoke, TX. / Byron Nelson) followed up and hit an RBI single to center field, putting the Tigers up 3-1 after the third.
The Celts came back and scored 7 more runs, and the Tigers were unable to score again, ending the game 3-8.
Game Three - Trinity 1, St. Thomas 3
St. Thomas threatened early with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
In the top of the third, freshman
Quincy Basarowich (Calgary, Alberta (Canada) / Memorial) got the nod and came through with an RBI single up the middle. At the end of the third, the Tigers trailed 1-2.
The Celts were able to score another run in the sixth inning, and the Tigers couldn't put another run on the board. The final score of the final game of the series was 1-3.

The Tigers will head to Southwestern University next weekend to battle in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament.
