No. 10 Tiger Baseball Takes On Centenary and UMHB

#10 Tiger Baseball plays host in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series against Centenary College of Louisiana this weekend before playing their final non-conference game of the season against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

The Tigers (23-7, 18-3 SCAC) won a SCAC home series against Schreiner 2-1 last weekend, dropping game one before winning games two and three to win the series. Maddox McDonald (San Antonio, Texas / Antonian) was a major offensive contributor, batting .583 (7-for-12) in the series with three runs scored, two doubles, and a home run that all collected seven RBI in total. Jake Beck (Austin, Texas / Austin) came in and pitched 3.2 shutout innings in relief of game three of the series, allowing just three hits and striking out two batters to keep the Mountaineers at bay, and set up the Tigers for a late rally to win the series.

Preview - A Good Mannered Clash With The Gents and Cru

The Tigers play host to Centenary in a SCAC home series, with an opening game on Friday, April 11th at 7:00 PM, and a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12th with game one at 1:00 PM, and game two at 4:00 PM. Trinity will then be on the road at Belton, Texas to play their final non-conference game of the season against UMHB with the first pitch slated for Tuesday, April 15th at 6:00 PM.

On The Centenary College Diamond Gents: The Diamond Gents have had their ups and downs this season, coming into the series with a 14-16 (10-11) record thus far. Centenary recorded a huge series sweep against Southwestern last weekend to keep their chances of making the conference tournament somewhat tenable. Sophomore first baseman Alex Miller is the big threat in the batting order for the Gents, leading the team in batting average (.325), Hits (37), RBI (20), and extra-base hits (12). Senior pitcher Tyler Herrera has been the surefire ace for the Gents this season, only having started one game where he allowed more than two earned runs on his watch, which has given him a solid 2.93 ERA. Trinity won the SCAC series at Shreveport last year 2-1 and holds a 39-22 record against the Diamond Gents all-time.

On The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru: The Cru have been one of the better teams in the ASC this year, and they head into this week with a 15-10 (3-5 ASC) record. After beating Trinity in San Antonio 6-3 earlier this season, the Cru have since gone 5-5 with their most recent performance being a 2-2 series split at home against Hardin-Simmons. Junior infielder Shane Melick has been on a tear this season, slashing .413 on the year with a team leading 32 RBI and six home runs. Expect several different faces on the mound for UMHB in a midweek game that could teeter into being a shootout.

On The Way

Trinity will play their last regular season SCAC road series at the University of St. Thomas (TX) from April 18th to April 19th.
