The 25th-ranked Tiger tennis team faced a tough challenge on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 6-1 to No. 3 Denison University in a competitive matchup held at Mitchell Fieldhouse.

In doubles play, Trinity came out strong at the top as the duo of
Jared Perry (Tucson, Arizona / Catalina Foothills) and
Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) earned the Tigers' lone doubles victory with a 6-3 win at line one. However, Denison responded with dominant performances at lines two and three.
Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep (Fla.)) and
Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) fell 6-3 on court two, while the pairing of
Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) and
Ethan Ruppanner (Amarillo, Texas / Tascosa) dropped their match 6-2 at line three.
The Big Red carried that momentum into singles play. At line one, Perry dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision, while
Ryan Warren (Keller, Texas / Connections Academy) fell 6-3, 6-4 at line two. Kersten battled hard at line three but came up short, 6-2, 6-3. Dhanani lost 6-3, 6-3 at line four. Trinity's lone singles win came at line five from Liao, who rebounded after dropping the first set 6-3 to take the second 6-4. He clinched the match in a tightly contested third-set super tiebreaker, 10-8. At line six,
Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) started strong with a 6-2 opening set win but ultimately fell in a tight three-set battle, 2-6, 7-5, 10-4.
SCAC Doubles Team of the Week - Jared Perry & Kishan Kersten
For the 4th time in Perry's career, (3x 2024: 1x 2025) and the 4th time in Kersten's career (4x 2025), Sophomores

Kishan Kersten have won SCAC Doubles Team Of The Week. This marks the sixth time in 10 weeks that a Tiger duo has won this award.

Perry, a sophomore from Tucson, Ariz., and Kersten, a sophomore from Plano, Texas, led the 25th-ranked Tiger men's tennis team with a 1-1 doubles record against two teams ranked in the top five nationally. The Tiger duo lost 7-6 (7-4) to the top-line doubles team at fifth-ranked Case Western Reserve (Ohio) University, then rallied back to win their second match. In that match, Perry and Kersten pulled off a 6-3 win over the second-ranked doubles team in Division III from third-ranked Denison (Ohio) University.

The Tigers prepare for a pivotal match in the SCAC standings as they travel to Georgetown to face Southwestern on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. Southwestern and Trinity currently sit atop the SCAC with the pirates owning a 5-0 record and the Tigers owning a 2-0 record.
On the No. 62 Southwestern Pirates: The Pirates are 10-5 this year, including a 4-3 win over No. 57 UC Santa Cruz and a 5-2 win over No. 69 Grinnell. The Pirates have suffered five defeats this season, losing to No. 3 Our Lady of the Lake (NAIA), No. 12 Rensselaer 1-6, No. 27 Carnegie Mellon 1-6, No. 29 Sewanee 2-5, and No. 30 Brandeis University 0-9. Southwestern will look to senior Oscar Roy to lead the way. This spring, Roy has a 7-5 record in singles and a 6-4 record in doubles. Roy's most notable wins include a 6-1, 6-2 result over No. 69 Grinnell, a three-set victory against Hendrix 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, and a 7-5, 6-3 win over Pacific University. Roy's most notable defeats have come against No. 3 Our Lady of the Lake 2-6, 2-6 (NAIA), No. 12 Rensselaer 4-6, 3-6, No. 27 Carnegie Mellon 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, No. 29 Sewanee 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, and No. 30 Brandeis University 5-7, 2-6. TIn a rematch of the 2024 SCAC final, the Tigers will look to steal the treasure once again as they travel up to Georgetown to face the Pirates on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m.
Looking Ahead:
The Tigers will return home in an action-packed weekend as they look to host Emory University on Friday, April 18, at 11 a.m. They will then return to action the following day to host a doubleheader against Pomona-Pitzer at 10 a.m. before taking on fellow SCAC rivals Colorado College at 3 p.m. to close out the regular season.
