San Antonio, Texas - Trinity University Men's Tennis opened play at the Trinity Invitational on Friday afternoon with a strong showing across both Singles and doubles.
In flight one singles,
Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) battled but ultimately fell in a close match 5-7, 7-5, 1-10. In flight Two,
Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) got the Tigers rolling with a straight set victory of 6-3, 614. This momentum carried into Flight Three, where both
Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) and
Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) picked up wins. Kamath won his opening match 6-3, 6-3, and Dhanani pulled out a 6-1, 6-4 win. The Tigers continued to stay strong in Flight Four as
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) decisively won his match 6-2, 6-2 and
Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) did the same with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. In Flight Five
Ethan Ruppanner (Amarillo, Texas / Tascosa) opened with another strong 6-0, 6-2 win for the Tigers, while
Elvin Selimovic (Audenge, Bordeaux, France / The International School of The Hague) came up just short in a long 6-4, 7-6(5) battle.
Doubles was equally as competitive for Trinity. In Flight One, Kaczmarczyk and Dhanani won their first match 8-4 before falling in the semifinals 8-7(2). Perry and Kersten opened strong with two 8-4 wins in a row to reach the finals. In Flight Two, Flores and Kamath won their first match 8-5, followed by a thrilling 8-7(8) victory in the semifinals. Ruppaner and Selimovic lost a tough first match 8-5, but bounced back with a strong 8-4 win in their second match.

Butch Newman Tennis courts for their Fall Invitational.
