SAN ANTONIO - With a cool, shaded pitch and a match under the lights, it could not have been a more perfect night for a game of soccer. It was an environment to use to the Tigers' advantage and that is exactly what they did as Trinity defeated the Bulldogs in a 3-1 win.
The Rundown
The match began with high intensity as the Tigers aimed to extend their winning streak against the Bulldogs, who were equally determined to finally break it. The Bulldogs held strong early on but eventually gave way under relentless Tiger pressure. In the 30th minute of the match, forward
Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) was able to beat her defenders, taking the ball endline and playing an on the ground cross to forward
Madysin Barganski (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff). While Barganski's first shot was deflected by the Bulldogs keeper, she was able to force her way past the defenders, tapping the ball into the back of the net. It was a goal of pure determination and drive from Barganski, putting the Tigers ahead 1-0 going into halftime.
Headed into the second half, the Tigers were eager to score again and take the game out of the Bulldogs reach. Only 11 minutes into the second half, forward
Lila Brackin (Dallas, Texas / Lake Highlands) easily put her defenders on her heels, beating them and driving to the endline. Brackin placed a perfect ball on the ground to midfielder
Bri Werner's (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg) feet, where Werner one-touched the ball right past the keeper, making the game 2-0. While the Bulldogs were able to find the net in the 60th minute of the match, the Tigers did not let them take the momentum. In the 87th minute, forward
Alex Doran (Boerne, Texas / Geneva School of Boerne) took on multiple Bulldog defenders, gliding her way through each and nailing a shot right past the keeper to seal the win.
