SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University Women's Soccer (10-0-1, 2-0-1 SAA) controlled the game from start to finish in a 1-0 win over Berry College (8-5-0, 3-2-0) on Friday night at Paul McGinlay Field.
The Tigers had most of the ball from the opening whistle and kept the Vikings pinned in their own half for long stretches. Trinity broke through in the 19th minute when
Alex Doran (Boerne, Texas / Geneva School of Boerne) dribbled across the top of the box and slotted a pass to
Madisyn Barganski (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff), who turned and shot it home for her fifth goal of the season to put Trinity ahead 1-0.
The Tigers nearly doubled their lead late in the second half when
Hailey Schlosser (San Jose, Calif. / Branham) curled a shot from outside the box over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net, but the goal was waved off for offside. Berry goalkeeper kept the Vikings within one all night, finishing with seven saves.
That one goal was all Trinity needed, as the back line held Berry to five shots all night and just one on goal.
Trinity Jefferson (Spring, Texas / Klein Oak) made one save in the 27th minute to keep the clean sheet.
Trinity outshot Berry 24-5, put eight shots on goal to the Vikings' one and had a 3-0 edge in corners.
