#14 Men's Tennis Sweeps Concordia in Home Opener

San Antonio, TX – The 14th-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team wasted no time making a statement on Sunday afternoon, sweeping Concordia University Texas 7-0 at the Butch Newman Tennis Center. After a couple of tough early-season tests, the Tigers looked sharp, focused, and fully in control from the first serve to the last handshake.

It was another confident showing in doubles for Trinity, as they secured the opening point with authority. First off the courts were the nationally-ranked duo of Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) and Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) at #1, who lived up to their No. 23 billing with a clinical 6-2 victory. Not far behind them were the senior pairing of Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) at #3, who matched that 6-2 scoreline with composed, aggressive play. The tightest contest of the trio came at #2, where the No. 8 nationally ranked pairing of Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) were pushed all the way to a tiebreak before sealing a gritty 7-6 (7-3) win to complete the doubles sweep and hand the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

If doubles set the tone, singles slammed the door.

First to finish was No. 30 nationally ranked Ryan Warren (Keller, Texas / Connection Academy) at #4, who delivered a ruthless performance, conceding just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 dismantling. Moments later, Kamath at #5 was equally unforgiving, cruising 6-0, 6-1 to double Trinity's advantage. Ivan Nikolovski (Alpine, N.J. / Dwight Global) at #6 kept the momentum rolling with a composed 6-2, 6-1 victory, stretching the lead and clinching the match.

With the team result secured, there was no easing off. Kaczmarczyk at #3 continued his steady start to the spring, winning 6-3, 6-2, while Dhanani at #2 produced a polished 6-2, 6-4 performance. All eyes eventually turned to #1, where the No.16 nationally ranked Kersten capped the afternoon in style. Tested in both sets, he held his nerve in a first-set tiebreak before closing things out 7-6 (3), 7-5 to complete the sweep.

From top to bottom, it was a complete performance. Dominant in stretches, disciplined throughout, and exactly the response the Tigers were looking for.
