On the Babson College Beavers: This weekend Trinity welcomes in Babson College, who is a familiar face. The Tigers have hosted Babson in five of the last seven seasons, with their most recent meeting being a memorable one. Trinity swept Babson in three games, and came back in game two from a 14-5 deficit in the eighth inning. Babson is coming off a season where they failed to make the NCAA postseason and were eliminated from the NEWMAC tournament in one game. These include three regulars in the lineup: Brant Savage, Justin Guest and Tanner Santos. The Beavers return the majority of their starting rotation, with three of the four arms that threw over 40 innings all coming back. The group is led by sophomore Chase Burrows, who led the team in innings last season while also having a WHIP below one and a 3.26 ERA. Babson is currently receiving votes to be ranked.Ā
On the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs: The Tigers will hit the road for the first time next week, as they play a Tuesday mid-week against TLU. This will be the Tiger's first game versus a SCAC opponent since they left the conference after last season. Trinity swept the Bulldogs a year ago at Kaat-Isbel Field. In game one of that series they scored 21 runs, which was a season high for them on the road last season. The Bulldogs roll into this series with a record of 8-1 at the time of writing. They are coming off a sweep against St. Thomas, who beat them out for a SCAC Tournament bid last season.Ā
Next week
Trinity will continue their tough schedule as they host Kean for three games, who appeared in the College World Series last season along with Trinity. The series will begin with game one on Friday, March 6th at 6 p.m., game two on Saturday, March 7th at 2 p.m. and game three on Sunday, March 8st also at 2 p.m.
