No. 14 Tiger Men's Tennis Opens 2026 Spring Season

No. 14 Tiger Men's Tennis Set to Open Spring in Abilene before a midweek matchup against D1 competition.

No. 14 Trinity University Tigers Men's Tennis opens the spring season with a three-match stretch in Abilene, Texas, as the Tigers face Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals Men's Tennis and Abilene Christian University Wildcats Men's Tennis on Thursday, February 6, before closing the weekend against Tyler Junior College Apaches Men's Tennis on Friday, February 7. After the opening weekend in Abilene, Trinity will return home for its first home match of the spring on Wednesday, February 11, hosting University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals in an exhibition. The match will mark the Tigers' first chance to compete in front of a home crowd this season.

Last Time

The Tigers wrapped up the fall season with a strong showing at regional competition, sweeping both the singles and doubles championships with all-Trinity finals in each draw.

Top seed Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) and second seed Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) met in the singles championship after advancing through the bracket, then teamed up to reach the doubles final as well. The singles final was a battle from start to finish. Perry claimed the opening set 6-4, but Kersten responded with a 6-1 second set and closed out the match with a 6-4 win in the third to take the title.

In doubles, teammates Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) faced Perry and Kersten in an all-Tiger final. Flores and Kamath came out on top in a nail-biter match, winning 7-5, 7-6 (10-8) to claim the doubles championship.

Preview – Tigers Back on Court

Ranked No. 14 nationally, Trinity enters the spring looking to build on their fall season. Their opening weekend presents a mix of opponents across divisions, giving the Tigers an early opportunity to settle into match play and test themselves in difficult situations.

With multiple returners who made deep postseason runs in the fall, the Tigers will look to set the tone early in doubles and carry that momentum into singles play as they begin a demanding spring schedule.

Looking Ahead

After taking on UIW, the Tigers will host Concordia and Mary Hardin-Baylor on Valentine's Day.
