Danville, KY - The 13th-ranked Trinity University Men's Tennis team recovered from a disappointing Californian trip to deliver a composed and efficient performance in their SAA conference debut, earning a convincing 7-0 victory over Centre College at the Seabury Family Tennis Center.
From a tightly contested doubles point through a clean sweep in singles, Trinity controlled the match and steadily pulled away as play progressed.
Doubles play opened with competitive action across all three courts. First off the courts was the No.23 pairing of
Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) and
Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) at #1, who delivered a sharp 6-0 victory to give Trinity the early edge. The Tigers then struck at #3, where
Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and
Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) earned a 6-3 win to claim the point fot Trinity. Centre picked up the remaining match at #2, as the No.8 duo of
Ethan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and
Roshin Kamath (League City, Texas / Clear Springs) fell 6-4.
If doubles set the tone, singles is where Trinity fully asserted control.
First to finish was No. 20 Perry at #2, who turned in a dominant 6-4, 6-2 performance to extend the lead. Dhanani followed at #3 with a steady 6-4, 6-3 victory, and No. 16 Kersten clinched the point at #1 with a hard-fought 7-6 (3), 7-5 win as Trinity eased to victory.
With the dual already decided, the Tigers continued to roll through the remaining courts. No. 30
Ryan Warren (Keller, Texas / Connection Academy) at #4 added another point for the Tigers, cruising to a 6-4, 6-4 result.
Ivan Nikolovski (Alpine, N.J. / Dwight Global) battled through a tight contest at #5, prevailing 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 in a match tiebreak, and Flores closed the day at #6 with a 7-5, 5-7, 10-5 victory to complete the singles sweep.
From top to bottom, it was a complete and businesslike performance by Trinity, resilient in doubles, dominant across all six singles courts, and firmly in command throughout the morning.
