Trinity enters this weekend losers of three in a row after their 5-4 loss on Tuesday to Concordia. Trinity trailed 4-1, but rallied in the middle innings to tie the game 4-4. The Tornados broke the stalemate in the ninth inning, scoring the decisive run in their 5-4 win. Prior to that, Trinity dropped its first road series of the year against Oglethorpe. Despite winning game one 7-4, the Tigers lost both games in the following doubleheader. They were run-ruled in game two 12-2 and walked off in game three 11-10, allowing four runs to score in the bottom of the ninth inning. Trinity now has an overall record of 13-10, which matches the number of losses they had all of last season.
Preview
The Tigers will fly back to Georgia for the second time in two weeks to face the Berry College Vikings. Game one is scheduled for Thursday, April 2nd at 6 p.m. (ET), while games two and three will be playing in a doubleheader the next day on April 3rd. First pitch for game two is at 1 p.m. (ET), while game three is set to start at 4 p.m. (ET). Following that series, Trinity will head to Round Rock for a game against Concordia on Tuesday, April 7th at 6 p.m.
On the Berry College Vikings: Berry enters the weekend series against Trinity with a record of 14-8 and an SAA record of 4-2. The Vikings are coming off a convincing sweep against Southwestern, where they won each of the three games by 11 or more runs and shutout the Pirates twice. Berry's offense has been clicking this season. They enter the series with the 22nd best batting average in the nation, hitting .338 as a team. They have also scored nearly ten runs a game this season, which is 28th in the nation. The Vikings have also proven to be excellent defenders, not with an axe like in traditional times, but with a glove. They have the 19th best fielding percentage in the nation. Trinity and Berry have only played once in their history, when the Vikings won 5-4 back in 2017.
On the Concordia University (Texas) Tornados: Concordia will go for the season sweep of Trinity and try to replicate their 5-4 win this past Tuesday. Tuesday's game was the first time the two squads had played since the Tigers beat Concordia in the SCAC tournament on their way to the conference title. After the win, Concordia improved their overall record to 17-10. The mid-week win proved to be a nice bounce back for the Tornados, as they had lost a series to Hendrix the weekend prior. Concordia averages 8.3 runs per game this season, but also has a team ERA of 5.40, so it's very possible the game on Tuesday has a lot of runs.
