No. 9 Tiger Women's Tennis Ease Past No. 49 Rhodes In SAA Action

Memphis, TN - The 9th-ranked Trinity University Women's Tennis Team rolled to a dominant 7-0 victory over the 49th-ranked Rhodes College Lynx on Saturday morning at the Dunavant Tennis Complex, sweeping every completed match and leaving no doubt from start to finish.

Trinity wasted no time seizing control in doubles. First off the courts were the 8th-ranked duo of Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) at #1, who handled Higgins and Laakso with a crisp 6-1 victory to put the Tigers on the board immediately.  Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kansas / Shawnee Mission East) and Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) followed at #2, dispatching Rask and Ribeiro 6-1 to clinch the doubles point and give Trinity a 1-0 lead. The #3 match between the Trinity pairing of Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School) and Allison Vo (Houston, Texas / Memorial) and the Rhodes duo of May and Taub went unfinished with the Tigers leading 3-2, as the doubles point had already been secured.

Singles was over almost before it started.

Tin at #2 was first across the line, cruising past Laakso with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 performance to push the lead to 2-0. Schmidt at #6 followed shortly after with an equally commanding 6-0, 6-4 victory over Taub to make it 3-0. No. 28 Andrade at #1 was next, delivering a clean 6-0, 6-1 win over Rask to clinch the team victory and push Trinity to 4-0 in what was her 11th straight win.

With the dual firmly in hand, the Tigers kept rolling. Astrid Kerrman (Edina, Minnesota / Edina) at #4 turned in a sharp 6-0, 6-3 result over Rodriguez, and Vo at #5 added another convincing point with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ribeiro. Levy closed out the sweep at #3, completing a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Higgins to clinch her 14th win of the season and remain undefeated heading into the final two matches of the regular season.

It was a complete and dominant afternoon for the Tigers from first ball to last. They were efficient in doubles, relentless in singles, and never seriously threatened as the Tigers continue to look every bit like a national title contender as the season rolls on.
