Tiger Baseball Back In San Antonio Against Sewanee

Trinity comes back home in Tiger-Tiger matchup vs Sewanee

Trinity comes into this series having won their last six games in SAA play. They swept Southwestern in three games last weekend and took all three games against Berry the weekend prior to that. However, the Tigers have not fared as well in their mid-week non-conference games. The Tigers enter their series against Sewanee coming off a 7-4 loss to St. Thomas where Trinity scored all of their runs in the first three innings. They have lost three straight mid-week games.

Preview

After playing three consecutive SAA series on the road, Trinity comes back to San Antonio to play Sewanee. Games one and two will be on Saturday April 18th, with game one scheduled to start at 12 p.m. and game two at 3 p.m. The series will continue Sunday April 19th, with game three having a first pitch time of 11 a.m.

On the Sewanee Tigers: Sewanee comes to San Antonio fourth place in the SAA with a 6-6 record in conference and a 16-14-1 record overall. If they win enough down the stretch, it would be the Tigers' first winning season since 2020. Sewanee's offense has been mostly middle of the pack by the numbers, however, they have a few offensive standouts. This includes Aiden Petrocco, who has a batting average of .405 and an OPS over 1.000. Sewanee is also unafraid to move runners when they get on base. They have dropped 25 sacrifice bunts this season, which is the 20th most in the nation. As far as pitching goes, the team has a 5.84 ERA and averages 6.5 strikeouts per nine innings. That ranks 272nd in the country. This will be the third time these two teams face, with Trinity winning both prior matchups.

Next week

First pitch for game two of the series is scheduled for 1 p.m. and game three is at 4 p.m. This will be Trinity's second to last series before the SAA tournament.
