SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University baseball team lost a 10-inning road game 1-0 at Concordia University (TX) on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (16-11) also lost to the Tornados (19-12) last week, giving Concordia a regular season series sweep over Trinity. The Tigers were shut out for the first time in the regular season since 2024, finishing with six hits and leaving seven runners on base. Concordia singled in the winning run with two outs and the bases loaded, driving in the only run of the game to win it.
Tait Johnson (Round Rock, Texas / Stony Point) was charged with the loss and dropped to 1-1 this season. He pitched 5.2 innings in relief, allowing just one run on four hits and striking out four batters.
Joey Hagen (San Clemente, Calif. / Santa Margarita Catholic) got the start and went 3.1 innings, yielding two hits.
Jack Henning (Houston, Texas / Houston Christian) had two of Trinity's six hits, going 2-for-4 with two doubles. The Tigers never had more than one runner on base in an inning until the seventh, which was also the best scoring opportunity of the night.
Grant Anderson (Austin, Texas / Vista Ridge) doubled to lead off the inning, then moved to third on a sac bunt from
Sawyer Haynes (Waco, Texas / Midway).
Michael Lustina (Austin, Texas / Westlake) walked to put two runners on, then stole second on a strikeout.
Khalfani Coney (Los Angeles, Calif. / Crossroads School) walked to load the bases with two outs, but Concordia got a strikeout to end the inning and maintain the shutout. The Tigers were caught stealing and left another runner on base in the eighth, then a double play ended the 10th to set up the dramatic ending for the Tornados.
