GREENWOOD, Ind. – Five Trinity University softball players were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District© team for the 2025-26 school year.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least sophomores with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. They must also have played in 90% or started in 66% of a team's total games for the season. For pitchers, they must have pitched in at least 17 games or for at least 35 total innings.
This year's Tigers to earn the distinction are junior pitchers
Josephine Koelewyn (Reno, Nev. / Academy of Arts Careers and Technology) and
Megan Kriechbaum (Cedar Hills, Utah / Pleasant Grove), senior infielder
Carsyn Lee (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound), junior infielder
Samantha Tagawa (Agoura Hills, Calif. / Agoura), and junior outfielder
Ella Whitacre (Roanoke, Texas / Byron Nelson).
Koelewyn, Lee, Tagawa, and Whitacre are all repeat honorees for the CSC award. Koelewyn, Kriechbaum, Lee, and Whitacre all earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar-Athlete honors in 2025, while all five Trinity student-athletes were on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2025 as well. Lee is a two-time NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete after having also won the award in 2023, and she is also the only three-time member of the SCAC Honor Roll.

Bailey Wittenauer, the Tigers finished the season with a 31-13-1 overall record and a 14-4 record in the Southern Athletic Association. Trinity was the Co-Regular Season Champion in the SAA and finished second at the SAA Tournament Championships. Trinity also earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Playoffs, competing in the postseason tournament for the first time since 2007.
