SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University women's soccer team shut out Texas A&M-Victoria 4-0 on Sunday, with all four goals coming in the final 10 minutes of the first half.
The Tigers (3-0) broke the game late in the opening period, scoring four goals in an eight-minute span to seize control before halftime. Trinity finished with a commanding 23-12 edge in total shots and out-shot the Jaguars (1-2-1) on target 15-3. The Tigers also held a 6-4 advantage on corner kicks.
Alex Doran (Boerne, Texas / Geneva School of Boerne) opened the scoring in the 36th minute and struck again just over four minutes later to make it 2-0.
Lilly Fant (Crownsville, Md / Old Mill) extended the lead to 3-0 in the 42nd minute off a corner from
Talia Camin (Houston, Texas / Memorial) and assisted by
Saige Clary (Houston, Texas / Episcopal).
Hailey Schlosser (San Jose, Calif. / Branham) capped the scoring in the 44th minute off an assist from
Lia Bonet (Houston, Texas / Kinkaid), the first collegiate goal of her career, sending the Tigers into the break up 4-0. Following the goal, Schlosser did an impressive 360 continuous jump turn that displayed terrific athleticism on the pitch.
Trinity's defense held Texas A&M-Victoria off the scoresheet the rest of the way to secure the shutout.
